Quad City Arts IL250 Public Artwork In the heart of historic downtown Aledo, Quad City Arts is thrilled to unveil a new public mural honoring two remarkable female artists with deep ties to the community. The mural, gracing the south side of 112 E. Main St., is crafted by the talented 19-year-old artist, Madeline Dieters. This vibrant piece celebrates the legacy of Gertrude Abercrombie, the surrealist painter known as the "Queen of the Bohemian Artists," and Doris Lee, renowned for her depictions of American life. As community members gather to witness this colorful homage to Aledo's artistic history, the mural stands as a testament to the power of public art in fostering civic pride and cultural connection. The festivities will kick off with a concert at Aledo's Central Park Bandshell, providing a lively backdrop for this significant occasion. Following the music, the mural dedication ceremony will take place, culminating in Aledo's Independence Day parade. Festivities will begin with a concert in the bandshell at 4:00pm, followed by dedication remarks. and a parade at 6:00pm along the park/mural sites.
