Marshall Public Library - Illinois 250 America Mural Unveiling

Marshall Public Library, in collaboration with the Gaslight Art Colony, is set to unveil a new public art installation as part of the Illinois 250 celebrations. The installation, consisting of three stained-glass windows, will be revealed at a grand unveiling and dedication ceremony on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. The event, located at Gaslight Art Colony, 516 Archer Avenue in Marshall, aims to honor the nation's 250th anniversary while paying tribute to the town's rich history and artistic vitality.
Named “From Sea to Shining Sea,” the stained-glass windows are a product of the dedicated efforts of the Gaslight Art Colony artists. Spearheaded by stained-glass artist Anne Hintz, a long-time Marshall resident and board member of the Colony, the project reflects both the beauty and spirit of the nation and the local community. The central panel features a bald eagle, with the accompanying panels capturing the essence of America. This vibrant artwork is prominently situated across from the Clark County Courthouse, contributing to the cultural landscape of downtown Marshall.
The ceremony will recognize the collaborative efforts of various community partners, artists, craftsmen, and supporters. The event will include a commemorative photograph, remarks from community leaders, and a ceremonial unveiling of the windows. Following the official proceedings, guests will have the opportunity to view the artwork and enjoy refreshments.
