"description": "The City of Macomb is pleased to announce the unveiling of a new Lincoln sculpture in Macomb on July 4, 2026. The life-size cement and bronze piece, created by local artist Professor Duke Oursler, will be officially dedicated at a ceremony from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the McDonough County Courthouse lawn. Independence Day celebrations include a variety of events throughout Macomb. From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., participants can embark on a self-guided "Looking for Lincoln" tour. From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Western Illinois Museum will host the America 250 Community Celebration, featuring live music, a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, a pie walk, and a meet-and-greet with Lincoln. The festivities will culminate in a firework display at Vince Grady Field at 7:30 p.m. Visitors can also engage in Macombopoly, a unique interactive Monopoly experience from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the historic Courthouse Square.
