Poetry Out Loud: Participate!

Teachers interested in participating in the official Illinois Poetry Out Loud competition will need to:

  1. Read the NEA's Rules on Eligibility.
  2. Review the Teaching Resources page.
  3. Download the Teacher's Guide.
  4. Fill out and submit the Illinois School Registration Form. 
  5. Keep the Regional Partner informed of your school contest date.
  6. Notify the Regional Partner of your school’s first and second place winners. Regional Partners/Contests will be announced later this fall.
  7. Facilitate the involvement of your school winners in the Regional Contest in your area.
  8. Support students from your school that may advance to the State and National Finals.
