Scholarships available for the Alliance of Artists Communities' 2012 Conference in Kansas City

The Illinois Arts Council is pleased to offer Illinois arts leaders the opportunity to attend the Alliance of Artists Communities' 2012 conference: October 30 - November 2, 2012, in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Illinois Arts Council is offering four $750 sponsorships to Illinois artists or arts leader to subsidize conference registration, travel, and lodging for this event. Conference registration is $350 for scholarship recipients, and attendees are asked to register by the September 7 early bird registration deadline.

The Alliance of Artists Communities' conference brings together artist residency directors and other arts leaders from across the country to explore support for artists in the creation of new work and artist-centered community development. Sessions range from nuts-and-bolts management workshops to panels addressing trends in philanthropy, art-making, and cultural policy. The opportunity to connect with peers from around the country will also be invaluable. This opportunity complements Alabama Arts' activities that support and encourage leadership development.

Preference will be given to artists or arts leaders who have not previously attended conferences of the Alliance of Artists Communities. To apply, submit a current resume and a brief statement describing your background and professional interest in attending the conference, including the impact you hope it will have on your career in the arts. Letters are due August 20, 2012. The awardees will be announced by August 30, 2012.

Send letters or questions to Carla Wahnon at the Alliance for Artists Communities.  Email:info@artistcommunities.org.
