IACA Announces Recipients of the Summer Youth Employment in the Arts Program
The Illinois Arts Council Agency (IACA) is pleased to announce the recipients of the fiscal year 2017 Summer Youth Employment in the Arts (SYEA) Program. Eighty-nine Illinois not-for-profit organizations are recognized with grants of up to $6,000 to support stipends for high school students’ summer employment opportunities. The 2017 SYEA Program is made possible with an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
“The strongest investment that can be made for the economic future of Illinois is to empower students to reach their full potential and be productive citizens,” says Shirley R. Madigan, Chair of the Illinois Arts Council Agency. “The Summer Youth Employment in the Arts Program gives students all over the state the opportunity to build job skills while connecting with their communities.”
SYEA Program recipients have been recognized by the IACA for providing high quality public arts programming and have demonstrated responsible stewardship of IACA funds. Student employees will receive training and mentoring in administrative and artistic duties. Summer employment will provide meaningful responsibilities that support personal growth and career preparation, while supporting the mission and goals of the host organization.
