Mission Statement: The DeKalb Area Arts Council recognizes that the arts enhance the quality of life and vibrancy of communities and thus supports, promotes, and celebrates the arts throughout the greater DeKalb area.

The DeKalb Area Arts  Council started forming in 2013 with a board of directors being established formally in 2014.  Monthly board meetings started with discussions based around forming a non-profit organization and preparing all of the documents necessary to do so.
The DeKalb County Community Foundation provided a grant to the Arts Council to help with the initial filing fees to register as a non-profit in the State of Illinois and file for 501(c)(3) non-profit status.

In 2015 the Arts Council began strategic planning for the future of the Arts Council.  A mission statement and logo were established for the organization.  October of 2015 all the required documentation to file for 501(c)(3) non-profit status was completed and submitted.  In November of 2015 the Arts Council hosted an Arts Summit open to the community to start the conversation about what the vision of this organization should be.  There are many exciting plans for the future.
