Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues

Paul Natkin
Artist / Program Description:
Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues offers a string quartet, blues harmonica/piano/vocals, East Indian tabla, and world percussion.

"Gritty Chicago blues and rarefied classical chamber music might not seem like a match made in heaven - until you've heard Corky Siegel bring the two together...a crowning achievement."
- Chicago Tribune

The seed for Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues was planted in 1966 when Maestro Seiji Ozawaa proposed to Corky a classical/blues collaboration. This resulted in two Deutsche Grammophon recordings, which are among the largest-selling American classics in history. As a composer, Chamber Blues brought Siegel the prestigious Lila Wallace Reader's Digest Meet The Composer award in 1998, a Top Ten CD of the Year Pick from Billboard, and raves from over one hundred critics from coast to coast. Their latest CD was released January 2005 on Alligator Records, the premier blues label. Corky Siegel has been conducting master classes, seminars, and lecture/demonstrations for over thirty years. He also sets the standard with innovative, highly-acclaimed residencies. Finally, his new book, Let Your Music Soar - The Emotional Connection, is available in stores internationally through Nova Vista Books.
